Paying the Price for My Dream

A street gang once put a contract on my life. That was the price of my dream.

From my earliest days as a Christian, I longed to do something significant for God, to touch the lives of hurting and broken men and women.

That dream led my wife and me to plant missions across the United States. We sacrificed large amounts of our personal savings, often lived in poverty, faced constant dangers, including death threats and gunfire, relentless stress, and even depression at times.

But here’s what I learned: your dream will cost you.

Mine cost me comfort, safety, and financial security. Yet God gave me the strength to persevere, and the reward has been seeing countless men and women break free from their addictions and find a new life in Christ.

The greater the dream, the higher the cost.

Paul understood this when he wrote, “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known.” His dream cost him everything, even his life.

The price of your dream may be high, but the cost of regret is far higher.

What price are you willing to pay for your dream?
